Facebook will Begin to Prioritize ‘High Quality’ and ‘Trustworthy’ News Sources Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement in a statement posted to his Facebook page. I’ve asked our product teams to make sure we prioritize news that is trustworthy, informative, and local.
And we’re starting next week with trusted sources. Social media enables people to spread information faster than ever before, and if we don’t specifically tackle these problems, then we end up amplifying them. That’s why it’s important that News Feed promotes high quality news that helps build a sense of common ground.
Zuckerberg’s announcement comes after Facebook was used to share fake news and click-bait during the 2016 election. Last week, the social media giant announced that they would begin prioritizing posts from friends and family members.
